How you can help ban EDCs.
Help remove harmful chemicals from products.
Remove harmful chemicals. Protect future generations.
You’re exposed to hundreds of harmful chemicals every day - in cosmetics, furniture, food and water. Some are known as Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs): they interfere with the body’s hormones and have been linked to increased breast cancer risk. We want the UK to take a precautionary approach and remove harmful EDCs from products. Here’s how you can help.
Why removing EDCs will make a difference.
- EDCs can disrupt hormone systems, especially during sensitive life stages (pregnancy, childhood and puberty).
- They are found in cosmetics (parabens), some flame-retardants in furniture, certain pesticides, and PFAS “forever chemicals”.
- A precautionary approach protects children, families and future generations.
- At least 30% of breast cancer cases are considered preventable.
The change we’re asking for:
- Ban the worst EDCs from consumer products.
- Protect pregnant people and children through stricter controls.
- Make prevention a government priority for cancer policy.
- Tighten product safety laws and supply-chain transparency.
- Fund research into chemical links with breast cancer.
- Require safer alternatives and labelling for consumers.

FAQ's about our 'Ban EDCs pledge'
-
Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals, or EDCs, are harmful chemicals that may interfere with the endocrine system by mimicking or blocking the action of hormones. For more see our EDCs fact sheet here.
-
By signing the pledge you are essentially agreeing to support an initiative that calls for stronger regulation of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) in everyday products.
While signing a pledge isn’t guaranteed to immediately eliminate harmful chemicals, it does amplify the voice of this mission, encourage informed choices and pushes for long-term change. Over time, strong regulatory changes (e.g., bans, stricter limits, safer alternatives) may result from sustained public pressure and your pledge is one part of that.
